Oh my! He looks terrific. That Gameboy is so funny though. Shows personality and a fun side to him. Knowing there is a full face sculpt is just icing on the cake with the articulation. These new figs are gonna look so nice. Absolutely love the whole sculpt.
...no back screws ? Are we going to have to crack these open to customize ?
Maybe, but hopefully not. For what it's worth, the renders don't seem to show the rivets in the joints, either. Maybe the screws are added in after the renders.
One thing I thought was if this was the same type of rendering as Impact's. The Impact one doesn't show the holes in the forearms, but it does with Smoke. Hoping that we can also see actual figure shots that tell us more about what we are getting. One interesting note is AWCramer keeps asking Blake about waist articulation and we get no answers about it. I'm hoping here is enough production time to fine tune the figs to have waist articulation along with screws in the back for easy disassembly.
Just looked more closely at this rendering as well as the old character artwork released months ago. I see he has a scar on his left eye. It looks very cool on the new artwork. So what we know about him is that he is a parkour master that wears sneakers and will probably be used as an escape artist (hence him stealing he nano-mechs in the comic) when he isn't playing his Gameboy. Lol
The new females from last year did not have a back screw. Newer starwars and gijoes dont. One thing that may make it okay to do these new scuplts is other cost cutting. Plastic that snaps to plastic is cheaper then having to have a screw possibly. I know this would put us out of our comfort zone only having customized one female figure I know there are new challeges that these figures might bring. There are some ways to makethings go together. Even if not made too. If the newer sculpts are this way we may have to learn new tricks. It may be time to challenge your self to making your own truely articulated reaper figure. Or cracking a puma open so you will have an idea how to put humpty not so dumpty back together again. I think its more likely these new figures have an ab crunch like marvel universe /newer joes then a waist swivel. I could be wrong but look at this image again. Doesnt it look like he might swivel at his ab? And it could vary figure to figure.
I dont mean to down talk anyone I think you are a great group of guys. I understand why you would want what your asking because you know I love being able to swap parts. Im just saying would it be better to asume the worste and be ready? Then assuming the best? Its possbile all those extras everyone is complaining about are going to be phased out in the future I would stock up. 5 years from now we might not be getting the older figures anymore. If this line is popular they might remake some of the old ones in the new style or they may just keep adding new ones yearly and push out the old.
I hope you know I say this out of respect for your situation. Please let me know if you want pointers. I suggest looking for some youtube videos about cracking joes open etc..
I have no problem with what you posted. I would love the back screw and compatible legs to update the old figures. I think most would give a collective sigh of grief if they are built like new Joes or the female figures, but I know I would get over it quickly. I've cracked open Puma and I've cracked open Joes. It's not that hard to do, but it's also easy to ruin a torso too if your not careful. Once open, you gotta glue it back. Once it's glued, it's harder to use it again. That's the beauty of the back screw. We will all figure out how to customize it if it's different from expectations or wishes.
As far as an ab joint, I just don't see it in the mock ups or the figure lineup picture. The bulky vests almost make it impossible for there to be an ab crunch. Waist swivel is more likely, but we've also seen Hasbro do away with any torso articulation too. It's all wait and see, but at least it's an exciting time for the brand and all of us impatiently waiting.
Also, you may be right about phasing out old stuff. I really wish I would have bought a ton of Mirage and old Rain figures for the arms and Mirage's mask. My Wal-Mart is only selling 3-packs and VS packs that have the females in them. It's getting harder to just even get a Bolder figure.
I will be disappointed if it doesn't have the screw as well. The new Adventure Wheel figure has updated articulation with a screw in the back. I've thought about buying several of them, but they only come in sets that aren't cheap at the moment. The legs are ideal for swaps. I'm going to customize the new figs regardless, but I'm really hoping for easy swaps.
