So apparently both this character from the 2003 line, as well as the more modern character we're all familiar with, are called Recoil: Are they intended to represent the same "character", or did Lanard probably just re-use an existing name by accident? (Admittedly, the newer Recoil fits the name better than a guy in a wetsuit.)

I agree that the figure in the hydro suit does not fit this name, but i like is more.

Interesting question as there is a variant of the old Recoil with blonde hair.
I like to think of them as father and son or uncle and nephew...

This is an opportunity for Lanard to write an interesting Bio. Considering what Mattel did with the MOTU bio's you'd think Lanard would see not much would be required to create one.

I've had the same question in the past with the name reuse. I just figure it was an updated version, but I like AW's thought of family members. I'd also like to see Lanard flesh out this in a bio too.

Yeah, I don't think these were necessarily intended to represent the same character, but it's not at all impossible for them to be. Stranger things have happened--for example, G.I. Joe's Bench-Press was the same "character" as Rock 'N Roll, despite having a different codename and hair color. Rock 'N Roll (v5) looks nothing like the "original" or Bench-Press, but in-story, it's still the same guy. (Just Hasbro being sloppy with mold selection.)

Speaking of Recoil, I'm definitely going to use Recoil's head on Trickshot's body and give it a repaint. I think it's fitting with them being close friends.

Oh, and the blonde version of Recoil just made an appearance on a Facebook post...definitely gives credence to the idea they may be the same character. Not that they look much alike apart from hair color, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I got my first Recoil Figure this weekend and even though I'd read this post I did connect the dots since I had the blonde version. Since there is a blond version I'd say they may be the same guy. He has some serious Bo Duke hair from the dukes of hazzard
