So I've been researching the O-Ring era of The Corps, being interested in the older line as I only had some of the figures, but not a major amount. There are some really great designs here. I was always partial to Yamato, Dragon Han and Whispering Willy, but I'd say there are a decent chunk of the original Corps! figures that really hold up. What do you guys say? Bring back some of the characters from the old days or let the past be the past? This Blog seems to have images of everyone.

Without question.
I'd only add that the characters , if brought back in the updated Corps! figure style , should be incorporated into the current story line with a slight nod to their past affiliation.

There's a few of these it would be good to see return. I bought the grey uniform version of Fox way back when just because I thought he looked cool so I voted for him.

Without question. I'd only add that the characters , if brought back in the updated Corps! figure style , should be incorporated into the current story line with a slight nod to their past affiliation. Rain calling in all hands to fight the current threat? Kind of like when Devil's Due brought back GI Joe, the first storyline involved getting everyone back after they had dispersed to civilian life. Actually, I think Hama's first ARAH story at IDW did the same thing. Anyway, I never had any Corps O-ring figures, and frankly don't remember them at all from my childhood. I only learned about the Corps when I was in college and reading sites like YoJoe. So I do not have any specific affection for any of these characters. Don't have a problem with bringing back the old characters, but they would still essentially be "new" characters to me.

Oh cool! Thanks for doing this poll. I was going to get to it but my knowledge of all the vintage guys is limited!
Is that everyone?

Looking at the figures has made it very clear to me .....that the designs are really dated. Personally there are at least 6 -7 figures i wouldn't mind seeing return but only 3 (maybe 4) that could be brought back as they are in a modern articulation form. Most look like what they were ..1980's action movie archetypes or joe clones.
You can never go wrong with a futuristic design though. HAt Trick Lemonade for example...if you sand his face off and replace it with a smooth Cobra Viper like visor you'd have a fairly decent army builder with body armor. Cybor Trooper wouldn't be horrible with a new color combination (sam with Brick Wall). Hiro Yamato might work without an update despite having a dated ninja gi.
Personally i just need Lightning Mobutu . I have no idea what the designers were thinking when they made that character but i need it lol.

Oh cool! Thanks for doing this poll. I was going to get to it but my knowledge of all the vintage guys is limited! Is that everyone? Every standard figure. Finding info in the glider guys and all the accessory type figures is tough.

Looking at pictures to put some faces to these names... some strange stuff in here. Avalanche looks somewhat like Tony Clifton.

Rumor has it that Whispering Willie is coming back anyways, so I put my vote towards Bengala.

I just noticed we can vote for more than one so I added John Eagle.

I just noticed we can vote for more than one so I added John Eagle. Oh really. Hmm, would have preferred to keep it at 1 so as to match the other polls parameters. :/

Since I was not familiar with these characters, I did some Google image searching to familiarize myself with these guys. Man, there is a wide range of stuff, from guys who look like they would fit in with a group shot of GI Joes, to some of the later guys who look like American Gladiators. A few of them stood out to me. Shark is neat but we don't need another diver to compete with Gills. Dragon and Hiro both remind me of mixes of Storm Shadow and Quick Kick, very neat. Crowbar and Whispering Willie are very Dreadnok-like, which I assume was the point (of the two, I prefer Crowbar). Hammer makes me think of that later version of Dusty with the beret. Bengala looks really sharp, as does Fox. Night Laser is a little too "futuristic 80s" at this point, but he is delightful in a retro sense. I like Flashfire and Avalanche quite a bit. Croc is neat as well (reminds me a bit of Pathfinder, a favorite from childhood). Gas Man looks more like a villain than a hero, but I like him. And Large Sarge has some nice points as well. I voted for Bengala, of all of the figures he has the most unique look while still matching the aesthetic of a military force. He is instantly recognizable and very memorable. EDIT: And thanks a lot you guys, now I am looking on eBay for vintage Corps figures...
