One thing I loved about The Corps! product of the 80's was the cultural diversity of the characters. I had a 24-pack as a kid and they had all kinds of ethnicities. Is it just me or are we missing African-American figures in the updated lineup? Does anyone think we get any in the near future since it would require a new face sculpt?

I can see what you mean. I think they were so worried about getting female characters out that they dropped the ball a little. I also understand the concern about making some of the characters they used to have... They were likely worried about stereo typing a race. The asian guy was a ninja. The black guy had a fro. ....

Well, I guess it's a given that El Jefe is Latino. Smoke can be a number of different ethnicities though.

Anybody else notice the unusual number of left-handed or seemingly ambidextrous characters there are? Almost seems like being left-handed is a requirement for recruitment! Personally, I'm left-handed with utensils (forks, pens, etc.) but right-handed with tools (guns, shovels, bats). It disturbs me a little seeing someone hold a gun in their left hand for some reason and nearly all my figures have their left trigger fingers out Sometimes I'll force 'em to hold a pistol in their right hand and use the other for pointing.

I noticed that too, yeah. There's kind of a surprising amount of lefties in the ranks. I was wondering if someone on the design team was a lefty... In any event, I too would like to see some more diversity in terms of ethnicity, especially since The Corps! is supposed to be a multinational operation...though I can see why Lanard would be cautious about it.

Throw caution to the wind! They've done the Americas and Europe and Asia quite a bit, but we need more African countries represented! At least Egypt and South Africa. Both male AND female too.

In my proposed character mashups I had a guy from South Africa (naturally , although he was caucasian), Nigeria and a guy from China. I also have a new concept in the wings for an African male.

Was browsing eBay earlier, and saw a lot of the ethnic figures from the 80s/90s. Most of them were awesome...the Native American and the gentleman in the turban are probably my favorites. I'd really like to see them make a reappearance. The turban might turn off some people, but I say, who cares?

I'll agree that I would like to see some diversity in the line up. We have a good amount of nations represented on both sides of the conflict, I think we should also have more racial diversity to go along with it.
This is still an ongoing thing even over in GI Joe, as it was something of a big deal when Cobra got not one but two African-American characters in the last decade, with Night Adder in Rise Of Cobra and now Tombstone.
Maybe the Sam Jackson head from Skull Island can be repurposed for another dark skinned character, whatever nationality.

Well people can now also use the Kong Jump head to correct the original Jump as he was supposed to be African (as seen in his tag art)
