GI Joe character card artist passes away

Hector Garrido, the artist responsible for the iconic GI Joe character artwork on the carded figures passed away in his sleep on the 19th April at a prime age of 92.



These images were so instrumental in capturing my attention and imagination when I saw them hanging on the pegs in store. He breathed life into the characters with his amazing guache paintings.



These are a prime example of how important, in my opinion, character artwork on action figure packaging is!

I did not know Hector Garrido's name until I saw this, but having looked at his art, I certainly knew his work from my childhood.
